Sorrento Discovery

Set out this morning with your private driver from Postitano to discover the Sorrento peninsula.

The day’s highlights can be tailored with your guide during introductions this morning, however, we have some worthwhile points of interest in mind.

The Sorrentine Peninsula is arguably one of the most picturesque stretches of coastline across the globe. The sheer cliffs, shimmering azure waters, and pastel-colored houses draping the cliffside, surrounded by lemon and olive groves – straight out of a dream.

After a scenic drive, enjoy a visit to the Old Town of Sorrento. Peruse the charming quarter, winding streets lined with quaint trattorias, various piazzas, and its historic monuments. The Basilica of San’Antonino is the city’s oldest church. Seen enough? Sit down al fresco and enjoy a Limonoro – Sorrento’s signature. You will be provided with recommendations for lunch today, a gastronomical spot with an equally as delightful atmosphere. Gnocchi alla Sorrentino is a classic to indulge in.

Following lunch, you may wish to head to Marina Grande if of interest – a vibrantly colored fishing village with rustic charm that contrasts the glitzy Piazza Tasso. This a fantastic alternative opportunity for a lunch stop should you be craving seafood.

Amalfi and Ravello Discovery

Join your private driver today for an enchanting day discovering the beautiful coastal villages. You will be captivated by the views, looking at villages like Amalfi and Ravello. Ravello has been named the City of Music and is home to the Villa Cimbrone, Villa Rufolo, the striking Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, and a vibrant cultural scene. This enchanting town that sits high on Italy’s most beautiful coastline, throughout the years has inspired many an artist and filled hearts with passion.

Admire the dramatic, steep cliffs of Amalfi. Between the 9th and 11th centuries, it was the seat of a powerful maritime republic. The Arab-Norman Sant'Andrea cathedral at the heart of town, with its striped Byzantine façade, survives from this era. The Museo Arsenale Amalfi is a medieval shipyard-turned-exhibition space that plays host to all kinds of events. You will be charmed by these romantic and incredibly beautiful towns. Perched high on the cliffs, they offer amazing vistas and lovely gardens, giving you a taste of la dolce vita. Walk through colorful gardens, and delight in fresh dishes at a local restaurant with suggestions from your driver. Daily Summary

Pompeii and Herculaneum

Meet your private guide who will be waiting to whisk you away for a day of discovery. First begin with a visit of Pompeii to explore the history, architecture and devastation of this ancient city.

A volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius swallowed Pompeii more than 2,000 years ago - and preserved the Roman town for posterity. Today, Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This visit will take you deep into the town where you’ll quickly be able to imagine the artisans, street traders and slaves go about their day. Pompeii was a prosperous provincial town, with a population of approximately 10,000 to 20,000 people. More than 1,000 bodies lie preserved in the lava and ash that engulfed Pompeii, and buildings and street signs are forever frozen in time.

To understand Pompeii, you need to walk among the ruins and preserved bodies of people and animals at the excavation site. Not only will these former inhabitants of this prosperous and busy Roman town give you an insight into what life was like 2,000 years ago, but you’ll also find yourself marveling at the frescoes, architecture and street graffiti that have been preserved.

After your visit to Pompeii, continue on to Herculaneum, an ancient city of 4,000–5,000 inhabitants which lay at the western base of Mount Vesuvius. It was destroyed—together with Pompeii, Torre Annunziata, and Stabiae—by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE.

You will be returned to your hotel at the end of the day.
