- Tour: Champagne Prestige with Dom Pérignon
Champagne Prestige with Dom Pérignon
This morning you will be met by your local guide and depart for a day in one of the most beautiful regions of the Champagne region, overlooking the Marne Valley.
You will be welcomed this morning for a visit and tasting at a premium boutique producer such as the domain of Le Gallais, a family owned Champagne House. Here, discover the entire process of Champagne making, from grapes to the bottles. Tasting the different cuvées of the House provides the opportunity for you to stimulate your senses and to understand the diversity of Champagnes.
Continuing on, visit the UNESCO-listed village Hautvillers to meet a prestigious figure: Dom Perignon. Nestled in the heart of Champagne on a hillside with sweeping views of the Marne Valley, the Abbaye d’Hautvillers was founded by Saint Nivard, Archbishop of Reims in the 7th century. In 1668 Benedictine monk Pierre Perignon a.k.a Dom Perignon became cellar master of the abbey and it is here that he dedicated his life to creating “the best wine in the world”. It was from his innovative work blending different grapes that formed the basis of the wine used in Champagne.
Stop for lunch today at a local restaurant in Epernay or Hautvillers suggested by your guide (to be paid directly). Alternatively, you have the opportunity to choose an optional lunch featuring regional specialties paired with 3 Champagnes in a charming restaurant of Hautvillers (supplement charge).
This afternoon, your guide will bring you to the Avenue de Champagne in Epernay for an exclusive visit to Champagne Dom Perignon. Begin your experience with a cellar tour followed by a guided tasting of the last vintage in a private salon. Dom Pérignon vintages are produced using the best grapes on the estate. Each one is a unique creation with a style and an identity which are unique to its vintage: it is down to the Chef de Cave to decide if the vintage will be declared.
Please note that final domain may change according to availability.
