Patrimonio Wine Exploration
Only 40 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide, the Cap Corse has always been strongly connected with the sea. Originally, local winemakers were also sailors and grew their vines close to the shores from where they traded their wines.
With your local guide, set out to get a taste of this typical vineyard during a day in the Cap Corse. Whilst enjoying dazzling panoramas you will have the opportunity to taste elegant and mineral white wines as well as the famous Muscat du Cap Corse, a delicate and sweet wine amongst the finest muscat wines in the world.
After a scenic drive along the east coast through the villages of Erbalunga and Pietracorbara, you'll stop for a presentation of the Cap Corse Vineyards from a scenic area.
You'll then be welcomed for your first tasting at a winery such as Domaine De Gioielli within the Coteaux du Cap Corse Appellation. Continue on for lunch at the beautiful port of Macinaggio on the north tip of the Cap Corse.
This afternoon, take in the dazzling panoramic viewing area at Moulin Mattei before arriving at Domaine de Pietri, or similar, for a visit and tasting.
Heading south we will reach Patrimonio at the foot of Cap Corse, which received Corsica's first appellation in 1968 and is undeniably the most reputed producing region of Corsica. Nielluccio, a close cousin of the Tuscan Sangiovese, is the principal Corsican red wine grape variety composing up to 95% of the AOP’s reds.Drive through the panoramic road above the vineyard?s and walk in the vines while learning about the history and specificities of this region. You'll be welcomed to an estate such as Domaine Antoine-Marie Arena or Orenga de Gaffory to try their full-bodied red wines and light rosés.
As your magical day of wine touring comes to an end, you'll be returned to your accommodation in the late afternoon.
